Due to the poor damp proofing found throughout London's historic housing stock, alterations to them often require damp proofing strategies that manage the problem rather than completely deal with it.

Dr Jagjit Singh, a damp proofing expert, inspected the property earlier this year and gave us clear recommendations on how to deal with the damp problem.

In short; the walls need to breath so that the moisture in them can expel into the atmosphere. This can be achieved in many ways. We chose to lap the damp proof membrane up over a delta membrane system which covers the entire lower ground floor walls.
