Modernisation and conversion of old bakery in French Alpine village into a  family house and artist’s studio.  The existing building was sandwiched on 3 sides between other village buildings and very deep.  Rooflights and double height spaces were used to bring light down into the deepest part of the building to create the habitable spaces needed.  The existing fabric of the building was restored and celebrated and juxtaposed with newer contemporary finishes.  Jo worked successfully with local french artisans to create a project which married local french architecture and expertise with the aspirations and expectations of an English Client.
